Hello there! its been a long time since my last post, so an update is probably necessary. When I left you in January 2016 little did I know how my life would be turned upside down in little more than a year.
At the end of 2015 my father was diagnosed with cancer and we sadly lost him in January 2016, closely followed in July by my husbands sister Jeanette from a brain tumour. It is hard to come to terms with losing a loved one and it was difficult for the whole family losing two wonderful people within a few months of each other.
Late summer saw my husband Steve and myself on a cruise to the Canary Islands on our favourite ship MSV Azura, and we visited some wonderful places and created some very happy memories.
On our return to the UK Steve began to suffer with anxiety and depression and in early December he went missing from the family home and on February 25th 2017 his body was found in the River Severn in Gloucestershire. Words cannot describe the sadness and sense of loss the whole family have had to come to terms with, he is greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
2017 was a year therefore of coming to terms with the void in our hearts and in 2018 we are trying to rebuild our lives, and with the love and support of our friends and family we are moving into a more positive future.
I am still singing with The Kidderminster Valentines, and Daniel with the Kidderminster Male Choir. Bewdley Concert Band now has a flute player as well as clarinet as I have branched out onto a second instrument. I have returned to work full time as a Registration Officer, registering births deaths and officiating at weddings, as well as working the occasional event day for Hartlebury Castle and Museum. Matthew is working full time for the Police and Daniel has returned to teaching Secondary science.
So what next?? Next year Daniel is getting married to his fiancee Katlyn and although we will have mixed emotions without Steve being there we know he would have been as excited as we are, as we plan the big day.
July 8th was my birthday and we were invited by the charity Sunflowers Suicide Support to a butterfly release and picnic near Stroud in Gloucestershire. The charity supports families bereaved by suicide and do excellent work within the county. Please take a look at their website. We hope to support them through fundraising in the coming year, more information will appear here nearer the time.
So that’s my update, I am about to fly to America to meet with my future in laws, so watch out for my next postings which will be from Long Island, New York State!
