The three best things about walking

This week’s walk was again a new one for us, the circular Ribbesford Walk. As the name suggests it is a circular 2 mile walk so you can start and end anywhere along the route, but there are two suggested start/end points that you can choose, the car parks at Gardners Meadow in the centre of Bewdley, or Blackstone Picnic area just off the junction of the Bewdley bypass.

So what are the three things that we like about walking?
1- Fresh air and exercise. As a form of regular (and free!) gentle exercise you cant beat putting your walking boots on and exploring your local area.

2- Fabulous views and scenery. Despite having lived in the Wyre Forest area of Worcesteshire for 28 years we are still finding new walks and trails to follow. We can also go further afield to equally fabulous countryside around Worcester, Malvern, the Cotswolds and being in North Worcestershire we are close to the Shropshire border.

3- Hidden gems. We are often surprised the hidden gems we find when walking. I have written previously about Burlish Camp a WW2 miltary base and hospital, and yesterday we came across St Leonards Church with its 15th Century woodwork and beautiful stained glass windows.

So get your walking boots on folks and get out and enjoy the sunshine!
