Photochallenge #4. a heron to water….

Environment and blogging are the two challenges left from Kates original photochallenge, so I wondered of I could somehow combine both topics? I am after all blogging this post (tick) and then I came across this photo (environment – tick) of a rather gnarled tree on the canal side.

Canalside tree

As well as the two rivers that I have written about previously, we also have the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal which we often cycle along to Stourport basin or towards Kinver. This rather unusual tree was on the canal bank just outside Kinver. Despite being an industrial town, within five minutes you can be in the heart of the countryside. Our local nature reserve Puxton Marshes is literally a stone’s throw away and is teeming with flora fauna and wildlife.

Heron canalside

We have an abundence of wild flowers, birds (including at least one heron) ducks, geese and even a few cows to naturally graze the area. Here are one or two more photos from our rides and walks along the canal.
