Recording session no1

Ok, so our first recording session took place on Thursday, maybe not as glamerous a recording venue as the big name pop stars get (local school drama studio!) and it was rather hot due to the lack of ventilation (soundproof =no open windows) but we did fairly well for week 1. The first 5 tracks are “in the can” and our MD seemed happy with our evenings work, although that may change of course when she gets the chance to listen to them back!

I can see why it takes so long for professional recording artists to put together albums, there is alot of time spent setting up equipment, moving around the ladies into the right formation to get the sound right and positioning the microphones – and then re-recording segments that were not quite right. Then after each track it needs to be saved and played back to check its ok.

There was certainly a buzz in the air, a few nerves despite the lack of an audience that resulted in a few wrong words (and rerecording of a whole verse of one track!) but on the whole a very succesful night. So here’s to Thursday when we do it all over again!
