One week to go……

The Valentines are starting to record their 2nd CD next week, and we have been spending time fine tuning some of our newest repertoire and dusting the cobwebs off some of our older tunes! Our MD has had the difficult task of trying to put a set list together so that it includes not only our favourites, but some of the more demanding show pieces that we perform. It has been 5 years since we put together our first CD and we have learnt alot of music since then, so it will be more a case of what we have to leave out rather than what to put in.

Our first CD The Valentines – With Love included a mixed repertoire including items from Les Miserables, the haunting barber shop arrangement of Malotte’s Lord’s Prayer, and a special arrangement of You Raise Me Up arranged especially for the Valentines by our talented accompanist Morfudd Sinclair.

Our second CD, provisionally entitled As Long as I Have Music is planned to include a rousing version of A Prayer for Africa partly sung in the original Zulu, the beautiful song The Rose, and musical theatre favourites Anthem from Chess, and I don’t know how to Love him from Jesus Christ Superstar with lyrics by one of the choir’s patrons, Sir Tim Rice.

So watch this space for updates over the next three weeks as we embark on our recording journey!
